clear & gentle
while i tend to be quite OG evangelical (emphasis on personal conversion & evangelism, & the priesthood of all believers), i have undying gratitude for some catholic teachings, especially this one : that conversion is a two-step process. one, water baptism (following belief & repentance), and two, confirmation (laying on of hands for the filling of the Spirit). this is a precious truth to me, both personally experienced, & now witnessed in each of my five children. (but, because of our evangelicalism, the baptisms are usually spontaneous, & in our bathtub under twinkle lights, the laying on of hands immediately following in our candelit living room!). i’ll share more about my children’s baptisms in a proper post later, but for now, i’ll share this clear & gentle teaching (& application) that came up on pray-as-you-go this morning. super straightforward & practical, with biblical backing & a gentle voice.
